Realistically you're looking at getting an extra 3-4 games per 1TB.Ī different way to approach this would be looking at games that have multiple languages and removing any that you don't need.

Just tried it with Arkham City again as an example and XeX compresses 7.61GB -> 7.42GB and GoD compresses 7.74GB -> 7.43GB, so a slightly better compression ratio with the GoD version but it still takes up more space, so I'd say overall you'd be better off with zipped XeX, but with a saving of 2-4% of disk space I'd say it's not worth the compression/extraction time. The compression ratio will depend on the game (some games' files are compressed on the disc anyway, so they're not going to compress much more than they already are) but it won't be much difference between XeX and GoD, because you're basically compressing the same files.

Limited support for extracted ISO games: default.xex files can be loaded and their TitleID and MediaID are displayed, allowing you to search for Title Updates.

Unless you're talking about keeping backups on a PC HDD, in which case yes, but you're unlikely to save much I'm not sure how much space and then you'd have to unzip them if you ever needed to transfer them to 360 again.Ĭompressing a GOD game still saves about a GB of space Xbox Originals made with ISO2GOD can now be uploaded. I've found that, if anything, GOD conversions are usually slightly larger, so I tend to just stick with files straight from the discs.Īnd finally, no, zipping them won't work - the 360 can't run games from. This dummy data isn't actually in any files on the disc, so once you've extracted the ISOs you will only have the actual game files, which take up much less space than the ISOs - for example Halo 3 is 5.68GB even though its ISO is 7.30GB, and Minecraft is only around 100MB but would still have a 7.30GB ISO.Ĭonverting them to GOD shouldn't really change the size of the games - it's just the same files in a different format. This is because, regardless of game size, dummy data was added to the discs to fill up the rest of the space (and as an ISO file is a 1:1 image of a disc, it also includes the dummy data). But if you want them in GOD format you can run them through ISO2GOD to convert them and then they go into HDD1/Content/0000000000000000/.Īs for saving space, if you have a bunch of ISOs you'll notice that they're all one of two sizes - either 7.30GB for older games that use XGD2 (Xbox Game Disc 2 format) or 8.14GB for later games that use XGD3. extract Halo 3.iso to a folder called Halo 3 and then put that in HDD1/Games/Halo 3. If you're starting with ISO images then you can do either - I think it's simplest to just use the extracted files, e.g. Homebrew applications and hacks are not limited to piracy, and it opens the door to legal threats and irritation.Ī hacked Xbox 360 will play Xbox 360 games in one of two formats -ġ) DVD files <- the game files exactly as they are on the game discs, just running from HDD instead of DVDĢ) GOD (Games on Demand) format <- the format they're in if you buy them digitally from Xbox 360 Marketplace NOTE: Please don't use this subreddit as a hub for piracy.
